Titan Lined Diverter Handling Sinter Dust

Published
Client:
Steel producer – United Kingdom
Quantity:
Size:
19 in | 500 mm
Application:

Sinter dust is produced in sinter plants, which agglomerate iron ore fines (dust) with other fine materials at high temperatures to create a product that can be used in a blast furnace. The process involves burning a mix of iron ore powder, fluxes, and recycled substances from the steel plant. This creates an open-grained, consistent substance known as sinter. The sinter is then crushed, cooled, and screened for dust.

Sinter dusts are highly heterogeneous and crystalline materials. They are composed of hematite, sepiolite, and calcite among other constituents.

Sinter dusts often contain valuable metals, and researchers have managed to recover elements like iron, zinc, and potassium salts from them.

Features:

  • Replaceable 450 Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) Hardox liners, to address the abrasiveness of the material handled.
  • Galvanized-coated exterior. The galvanizing protects the diverter from potential corrosion, due to its “salty air” coastal environment.
